How To Help Chile

This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions for me as I have found so many of the people I taught in Chile. Two families in particular are in need of immediate help fromthe earthquake. One of them is a family of converts in Llo Lleo San Antonio, Chile. Their home walls were destroyed and they need assistance which is not coming. Claudia is on the far left in the picture above.
Another family in need is in our current ward. If you would like to contribute goods or money to these two families please contact me, Heather Gardner via email. Or leave a comment below. I will be wiring the family in San Antonio funds this week. As well, the Jorgensen family are taking donations.

Here is a letter from our ward member.

Dear Family and Friends

My family in Chile have suffered an 8.8 earthquake with an epicenter just 70 miles from their homes which has destroyed much of their belongings and caused chaos all over Chile. My family is alive and well, however food and water is hard to come by and the government has been slow to help. The electricity has been off since the earthquake hit 6 days ago and candles are scarce. Currently there is no safe way to send packages to my family because they would be lost or stolen. I am afraid they will run out of money because all the prices for food and basic items like gas for their stove has doubled in price. I would like to send them money so they can buy the basic needs to survive during this long recovery period. If you have been thinking about donating to Chile, please help by sending any amount to my address below. I will be sending all the donations to Chile on March 19th so there is only one charge using Western Union. If you are unable to donate please pray for my family and all of Chile. Thank you so much for your help and prayers, it will be very much appreciated.

Love,
Angelica Jorgensen

Even if you send money, are the materials available? I know having the money is a start though.

The post office said there is no delay in mail or delivery to Chile...so, I am also going to send out care packages with foods that are light and common to their diet like noodles, herbal tea, spanish Books of Mormon and basic hygiene items if anyone wants to help contribute there.
